The Analytical Concordance to the New Revised Standard Version of the New Testament is a great tool for those wishing to work with the New Testament of the NRSV.Take note that this is a concordance for the NEW TESTAMENT ONLY. It is "exhaustive" in the sense that it indexes every important word but leaves out the articles, modifiers, pronouns and such that usually are not theologically significant for finding a passage in the Bible.One area of disagreement is centered in the book's introduction. The editors state that the Greek-English index is not a dictionary.I beg to differ.The NIVEC (NIV Exhaustive Concordance) was based upon this same indexing method (should be since John R. Kohlenberger III was one of the editors). According to the editors of the NIVEC, the indexes do indeed constitute a lexicon in that the range of meaning is given by the different words used to translate the original Greek.So, this index does, in fact, constitute a dictionary and the general meaning of the Greek word can easily be found by simply looking at the words which were used to translate the Greek word in the NRSV.Good buy and a good reference tool. Highly recommended.

This is one of two must-have resources for those who seek in-depth word study of the New Testament. Its strongest point is that it provides instant access to the Greek words, even for those who don't read Greek. Look up any English word, and you'll find the Greek word and its English transliteration. For instance, as you can see in the "Look Inside" feature, the English word "abide" in 1 Cor. 13:13 translates the Greek word "μενω" (meno). And here's the beauty part -- it tells you that the Goodrick-Kohlenberger number for "μενω" is 3531, which gives you direct access to this word in the other indispensable resource for NT word study: New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology: Abridged Edition. If you own these two gems, you'll have all the word study information you'll probably ever need -- with or without knowing a word of Greek. Get these two books!Be aware that Oxford and Eerdmans hold a joint copyright and publish the identical book. Both products are out of print. If you buy it used, you may get the Eerdmans, which is what I own and is very well-made. The ISBN for the Eerdmans is 0-8028-3883-9 (that's the copyright-page number; the ISBN on the dustcover of my Eerdmans is 0-8028-3838-3; I don't know why there are two numbers on the same book).

This is a very helpful for the person involved in biblical exegesis. I found rather helpful for my papers in New Testament Exegesis and for doing word studies. You may discover the meaning of a word that never occurred to you. Great tool!
